The price

£200. That is the whole number.

One payment, everything included. No starter tier that turns out to be useless, no monthly fee, and nothing that turns up on an invoice later.

A website for your business

Everything below, 1–2 weeks from our first conversation.

£200once

  • A proper multi-page website

Not a single-page template. Home, services, about, contact — plus pages for the areas you cover and the jobs you have done, if they help you get found.

  • Your domain name

Registered for you and paid for the first year. It is yours, in your name.

  • Hosting for a year

Fast hosting on Cloudflare, included for twelve months. After that it is a few pounds a year, or nothing at all if you stay on the free tier.

  • Set up to be found on Google

Page titles, descriptions, a sitemap and the structured data Google reads to show your phone number and opening hours. Checked before it goes live.

  • Works properly on a phone

Most people will find you on a phone. The site is built for that first and checked on real screen sizes.

  • A contact form that reaches you

Straight to your inbox. Plus tap-to-call and tap-to-email on mobile.

  • An SSL certificate

The padlock in the address bar. No browser warnings telling people your site is unsafe.

  • You own all of it

The domain, the files, the lot. No monthly fee, no contract, and nothing held hostage if you ever want to move it.

What the alternatives cost

Comparing the cost of a website from Sam Barrett with a website builder subscription and a design agency.
RouteUp frontEvery year after
Me£200~£12, for the domain
A website builder subscription£0£200–£500, forever
A design agency£1,500–£3,000£100–£600 hosting and upkeep

A builder subscription looks cheap in month one and costs more than I do by month eleven — and you never own what you built. That is the whole argument, and it is why I charge once.

Questions

Why is it only £200?

Because I build them myself, from scratch, with no office to pay for and no sales team taking a cut. A big agency quoting £3,000 is not giving a plumber ten times the website — they are covering their overheads. I would rather charge a fair price and build more of them.

Is there a catch, or a monthly fee?

No. £200 is the whole price. The domain and the first year of hosting are in it. After twelve months the domain renews for about £10-£15 a year, which you pay to the registrar directly, not to me. There is no contract and nothing to cancel.

Is it WordPress or one of those website builders?

Neither. I hand-build the pages, which is why they load quicker than a builder site and why there is no plugin to update or subscription to keep paying. If you ever want to move it somewhere else, you can — you own the files.

How long does it take?

Usually one to two weeks from our first chat. That is the normal pace for this trade — most firms quote five to fourteen working days. The slow part is normally getting photos and details out of you, so if you are quick, I am quick.

Someone else offers a website by tomorrow. Why not you?

Because a site built in a day is a template with your logo dropped into it. Writing the words for your business, getting the photos right and building pages that actually rank for the places you work takes longer than an afternoon. You are going to look at this thing for years — a fortnight is not long to wait for one that is actually yours. If you genuinely need something up this week, tell me and I will say honestly whether I can do it well in the time.
